Cinelease is expanding its reach across the production services business with the acquisition of key Quixote assets, including grip and lighting, production supplies, portable restrooms and communications equipment.
The deal, announced Tuesday, marks another step in Cinelease’s broader effort to position itself as a full-scale entertainment infrastructure platform serving film, television, live events, sports and large-scale media projects.
The acquired production supply assets will operate under the Cinelease Pro Supplies banner. The transaction also adds to Cinelease’s grip and lighting and communications capabilities, while strengthening its portable solutions business through additional restroom assets.
The move comes as Cinelease continues to build beyond its traditional equipment rental foundation. Recent additions include C&C Studio Services, now operating as Cinelease Rigging; fencing and barricade capabilities from West Coast Fencing; and an expanded restroom trailer fleet under Cinelease Portables.
For productions, the strategy is designed to consolidate more on-set and site services under one provider at a time when shoots, live events and sports productions increasingly require complex infrastructure support.
“Cinelease has spent nearly 50 years earning the trust of the people who bring productions and live events to life,” Cinelease CEO Mark Lamberton said in a statement. “The acquisition of these assets builds on that foundation, expanding what we can deliver for our customers and making it easier for them to access more of the equipment, services and infrastructure they need through one integrated platform.”
Louis Dargenzio, chairman of Cinelease and founder of Zello, said the company sees an opportunity to grow Cinelease into “a leading entertainment infrastructure platform,” while continuing to invest in people and complementary services.
“Film and television will remain our foundation as we expand across live events, sports and large-scale projects,” Dargenzio said.
Quixote will continue to focus on transportation, including its Star Waggons brand. Dargenzio also noted Cinelease’s longstanding relationship with Quixote, saying the company has “tremendous respect” for the business and its team.
The acquisition lands amid continued consolidation and repositioning across the production services sector, as vendors look to serve a wider range of entertainment and event clients with integrated offerings. Cinelease said it plans to continue investing in complementary capabilities and expanding its North American platform.
