In a bold move to redefine script review and development, Wscripted has launched a new AI-powered platform aimed at opening doors for female and underrepresented writers in the entertainment industry. Founder Ellie Jamen describes it as a disruptive tool that puts fresh storytelling talent directly in the hands of producers, studios, agencies, and sales agents.
“Wscripted+ provides an efficient and inclusive way for the industry to explore new content and stories,” Jamen explains. “We built this platform to streamline how professionals source work, making it easier for unique voices to be discovered.”
With AI-generated script coverage available within minutes, Wscripted+ is designed for industry insiders to quickly evaluate and manage submissions at scale. Over 2,000 female and non-binary writers have already joined the platform, eager to share their work through a system that promotes both inclusivity and efficiency. Screenwriters, filmmakers, and authors can upload their projects, while industry professionals can use the AI tools to generate detailed script coverage and diversity insights almost instantly.
Backed by Tech Powerhouses and Industry Trailblazers
The platform has garnered support from some significant backers. With pre-seed funding through Techstars Atlanta Powered by J.P. Morgan and a spot in Comcast NBCUniversal LIFT Labs accelerator, which focuses on generative AI, Wscripted is primed to make an impact. Even an early version of the platform was tested by Universal Pictures, underscoring the growing interest in tech-enabled script discovery.
“Wscripted+ isn’t just a tool; it’s a bridge connecting projects to the right people, breaking down barriers for underrepresented voices,” Jamen emphasizes. “We’ve seen that the industry often lacks time and resources to discover new voices. This platform fills that gap by putting all the stories – including those from women and diverse writers – into one accessible network.”
A Model for Efficiency and Inclusivity
Subscription-based, Wscripted+ offers entry points for writers at just $10 a month, while producers start at $50, scaling with company size and use. This cost structure aims to democratize access, giving both individual writers and larger production companies a fair shot at connecting with one another.
Wscripted’s unique offerings don’t stop there. In collaboration with the Cannes Film Market, the team recently showcased an AI-powered diversity analysis feature, which was tested by a cohort of global producers. Soon-to-come features include tailored content curation and an ethical narrative analysis tool, supporting Wscripted’s mission to promote fair representation in storytelling.
Supporting Emerging Talent at Cannes
The platform is also home to the acclaimed Cannes Screenplay List, a campaign spotlighting scripts by women and non-binary writers during the Cannes Film Festival. Curated by a female-led jury, including past judges like actress Vanessa Kirby, the list is supported by streaming giant MUBI, adding an extra layer of visibility for emerging talent.
By blending advanced AI technology with an inclusive approach to content discovery, Wscripted+ aims to help producers, agents, and studios find the hidden gems of the industry, while actively supporting the voices that need a platform the most.
As Jamen puts it, “In the evolving landscape of storytelling, we’re here to help shape a more diverse and connected future.”
