London just got a major upgrade in its production landscape with the grand opening of Eastbrook Studios, one of the city’s largest film and TV studio complex. Spanning 21.5 acres, the brand-new facility delivers 12 state-of-the-art soundstages, ranging from 16,000 to 32,000 square feet, with 50-foot clear heights and interconnecting walls for seamless production flexibility.
Backed by Hackman Capital Partners (HCP) and The MBS Group, this $262 million (£200M) investment cements Eastbrook Studios as a premier destination for global productions, filling a critical gap in the UK’s booming content industry.
A Studio Built for the Future
Located in Barking & Dagenham, Eastbrook Studios has transformed a once-unused industrial site into a cutting-edge production hub. Designed to handle everything from tentpole blockbusters to high-end TV dramas, the facility offers:
•12 Soundstages (totaling over 280,000 square feet)
•3 acres of backlot for large-scale outdoor sets
•Over 215,000 square feet of workshop and office space
•Interconnecting soundstages with operable walls
•Direct access to London’s Underground District Line (30 minutes to Soho, 15 minutes to London City Airport)
“The UK remains one of the most in-demand filming locations in the world, and Eastbrook Studios delivers the infrastructure needed to support that demand,” said Brantley Bissette, Managing Director of Eastbrook Studios. “With our world-class stages, flexible facilities, and commitment to sustainability, we’re creating a home for both domestic and international productions at every scale.”
A Long Road to Reality
The vision for a major studio in East London has been years in the making. Back in 2016, the Londoneast-uk Enterprise Partnership and Barking & Dagenham Council invested £80,000 to explore the viability of a film studio on a former Sanofi pharmaceutical plant site. The area had already seen action, hosting productions like Avengers: Age of Ultron, Humans (C4), and Code of a Killer (ITV).
By 2018, the project gained traction, with international interest from major players—including Pinewood—vying for development rights. However, after an initial deal with Pacifica Ventures collapsed in 2019 due to Brexit-related uncertainties, the project was put back in play.
Enter Hackman Capital Partners, the real estate powerhouse behind Culver Studios, Television City, and Amazon’s Shepperton expansion. HCP secured a 250-year lease on the site and, together with MBS Group, reimagined the original plan—expanding it into the 21.5-acre, 12-stage facility that stands today.
Driving Growth in London’s Production Boom
The UK’s film and TV industry is at an all-time high, with $4.5 billion (£3.6B) in production spending last year. Eastbrook Studios is positioned to be a major contributor to that growth, creating 1,200 new jobs and injecting $44 million (£35M) annually into the local economy.
The project has also prioritized workforce development, with an endowment for local job training, apprenticeships, and outreach programs. “This isn’t just about bringing productions to London—it’s about building a future pipeline of talent in the heart of East London,” said Bissette.
Already Making Waves
Eastbrook Studios opened for bookings in July 2024, and productions are already rolling in. One of the first major projects to land at the new facility? A multi-camera TV show with a live studio audience, defying expectations for a facility originally designed for high-end scripted content.
In January 2025, NBC filmed the pilot for Love Takes a Village, a brand-new dating show hosted by Hollywood’s own Anna Faris, with UK presenter Rick Edwards co-hosting. If it gets picked up, expect Eastbrook to become a fixture in the reality TV space as well.
Eastbrook Studios: A Game-Changer for UK Production
With Netflix, Amazon, and Disney+ ramping up UK production, soundstage space is at a premium. Eastbrook Studios is not just another new facility—it’s a major shift in London’s production landscape.
As the UK continues to attract record-breaking film and TV investments, Eastbrook Studios stands ready to meet the demand—offering cutting-edge infrastructure, world-class service, and a prime location just minutes from central London.
For global filmmakers, London’s largest studio is officially open for business.
