Ballinran Entertainment, in collaboration with a consortium of local business leaders and investors, has announced ambitious plans to transform Stratford, Ontario, into a thriving hub for film and television production. The newly revealed Stageview Studios, designed by architect Michael Wilson, will see the redevelopment of a Downie Street warehouse just beyond Stratford’s heritage downtown. This project aims to position Stratford as a major player in the evolving global media and entertainment sector.
“As Ballinran Entertainment celebrates 30 years of storytelling, Stageview Studios marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter,” said Craig Thompson, President and Executive Producer. “With seismic shifts in streaming, AI, and consumer behavior, Stratford is uniquely positioned to harness its creative potential and meet the demands of this changing landscape.”
Local champions of the project include Stratford business leader and musician Lee Helperin, who owns the warehouse set to become Stageview Studios. “Ballinran’s accomplishments are truly inspiring, and I believe this studio will elevate Stratford’s creative economy,” said Helperin, whose family has operated Hudson’s of Stratford for over a century.
The project has also garnered support from civil engineer and community advocate Nick Aroutzidis, who highlighted its alignment with the Grand Trunk Railway Shops redevelopment plans. “Stageview Studios will elevate Stratford’s reputation as a cultural hub, and I’m thrilled to be part of it,” Aroutzidis shared.
Architect Michael Wilson emphasized the studio’s connection to Stratford’s industrial and railway heritage. “Stageview Studios will blend energy-progressive design with historical preservation, creating a space that celebrates the past while embracing innovation.”
While specific details of the over 33,000-square-foot facility remain under wraps, the team envisions a state-of-the-art production space designed to attract both local talent and global productions. Stageview Studios is set to be completed by 2027.
