Spain has officially entered the global virtual production race with the launch of Coruña Immersive Studio (CEI), the country’s largest and most advanced LED volume. Featuring a 92-foot-wide LED wall, a 1,076-square-foot LED ceiling, and two movable LED totems, this state-of-the-art facility in A Coruña, Galicia is set to become a premier destination for film, TV, and commercial productions.
A High-Tech Leap for Spain’s Film Industry
Spanning 8,330 square feet, with 2,460 square feet dedicated to the studio, CEI is housed within Cidade das TIC technology hub. Developed in partnership with Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales (TSA), Tangram Solutions, and Alfalite, the project received funding from the A Coruña Provincial Council and the Spanish government under the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.
The studio’s semicircular 92-foot-wide LED wall is built with 672 Alfalite Modularpix Pro VP XR panels, boasting a 1.9 mm pixel pitch and 14,336 x 3,072 resolution. It is complemented by:
•A 1,076-square-foot LED ceiling for dynamic lighting and skybox visuals.
•Two movable LED totems (8 feet wide, 13 feet tall) enhancing reflections and ambient effects.
• A total of 1,152 Alfalite VP XR LED panels, enabling real-time, photorealistic environments.
Spain’s New Benchmark for Virtual Filmmaking
Powered by Pixotope’s 3D tracking system, ARRI Alexa cameras, Canon lenses, Novastar MX processors, and a Blackmagic video matrix, CEI is built to support world-class productions.
“We are proud to be part of this game-changing studio,” said Luis Garrido, executive director of Alfalite. “With CEI, Spain is now positioned as one of Europe’s premier virtual production hubs.”
As the film and TV industry shifts toward LED volume stages, CEI’s launch cements Spain’s status as a new player in next-gen filmmaking.
