Space Film Studios, located on the Hertfordshire-Buckinghamshire border in Bovingdon, has entered an exclusive agreement with Locations London to manage its expansive backlot and potential build space. This 180-acre site is already primed for productions and offers a range of unique features that make it a standout destination for film and TV projects.
The property includes a concrete runway measuring approximately 2,133 feet by 197 feet, a 9-acre woodland, and an array of historical and architectural gems. Among them are a farmyard with 17th-century barns, a Grade II-listed farmhouse from the 16th century, a village pub dating back to the 1500s, and stables with a yard, indoor and outdoor arenas, and open fields offering uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscape.
The backlot has already hosted a series of major productions, including Masters of the Air, where a concentration camp and towers set was constructed, as well as Fast and Furious 6, Justice League, Fury, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Britannia, and Spectre.
Located next to the established Bovingdon Airfield Studios, Space Film Studios offers a complementary addition to the area’s production capacity, making Bovingdon an increasingly significant hub for film and TV production in the UK.
“This is an exciting relationship,” said Myles Waud of Locations London. “The demand for backlot space is soaring as many studios focus on increasing their internal build spaces. With the success of the neighboring Bovingdon Airfield Studios, this is a great opportunity to create a thriving production hub here in Bovingdon.”
Phil Thornton of Space Film Studios echoed the enthusiasm: “Having Locations London on board is a major step forward for this incredible site. Their ability to connect with productions and maximize the potential of this location ensures that Space Film Studios will become a key player in the industry.”
As the UK continues to see unprecedented demand for production spaces, Space Film Studios, under the expert management of Locations London, is well-positioned to support the industry’s growth with its unique mix of open space, historic charm, and proven track record of accommodating high-profile productions.
