Shadowbox Studios, the owner of Shinfield Studios in the UK and Shadowbox Atlanta, is doubling down on its position as a major player in the global production space with the appointment of Mike Mosallam as its new Chief Operating Officer. With an aggressive expansion strategy and a slate of high-profile productions under its belt, Shadowbox is making bold moves to redefine what world-class studio operations look like.
Mosallam, an industry veteran with a proven track record, brings a wealth of experience from Apple TV+, where he led the Studio Strategy and Operations division, overseeing a tenfold expansion of the company’s studio footprint. Prior to that, he was instrumental in implementing Netflix’s global studio real estate strategy, positioning the streamer as a powerhouse in production infrastructure. Now, as the first-ever COO of Shadowbox Studios, Mosallam is set to drive the company’s global growth, overseeing its existing and future studio sites, production services, and international expansion.
As part of this transformation, a new executive leadership team has been assembled, reinforcing Shadowbox’s commitment to delivering premium studio facilities and high-end production services. The team includes VP of Global Sales Jennifer Roe Emery, VP of Studio Strategy Thomas Laub, VP of Global Operations Dean Horne, Director of UK and Europe Sales Beth Gallagher, Director of North American Sales Rebecca Riemersma, and Director of Atlanta Sales Jeremiah Cullen. Together, they will focus on strengthening Shadowbox’s studio offerings and expanding its global reach.
Shadowbox’s Shinfield Studios has quickly become one of the UK’s premier production hubs. The one-million-square-foot facility recently completed construction and boasts 18 soundstages. The studio has already played host to Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, The Acolyte, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, and The Magic Faraway Tree, making it a sought-after location for high-profile projects.
Meanwhile, Shadowbox Atlanta has been a key production site for major films, including Jumanji: The Next Level, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Jungle Cruise. With Georgia continuing to be one of the most competitive filming locations in the world, the studio is positioning itself as an essential partner for Hollywood productions looking to take advantage of the state’s tax incentives and production infrastructure.
Beyond its existing locations, Shadowbox is actively expanding, with a new studio complex under construction in Queensland, Australia. The 10-stage facility will include a backlot and training facilities, further solidifying the company’s status as a global studio operator.
But Shadowbox isn’t just about building studios—it’s about elevating the production experience. The company is rolling out new support services, including volume planning for production companies, full-service studio management, and workforce development initiatives through its Backlot Academy, aimed at growing crew bases in emerging markets.
“With Shadowbox’s growing operations, it was essential to put in place a leadership team that has a deep understanding of production needs,” said Peter Rumbold, CEO of Shadowbox Studios. “Mike and his team have the deep industry knowledge necessary to thoughtfully adapt our service offerings to meet current and future market conditions.”
Mosallam echoed this sentiment, saying, “Shadowbox has exactly what today’s storytellers are looking for: premium studios, a world-class operations team, and the appetite to offer best-in-class service to all our clientele. I can’t wait to work with this tremendously talented team to redefine what the world’s leading creators of film and TV should expect from studio operating partners.”
With a growing global footprint, state-of-the-art facilities, and a powerhouse leadership team, Shadowbox Studios is cementing itself as one of the most influential players in the film and television production industry. As the demand for premium content surges, the studio’s ability to scale, innovate, and deliver unparalleled production experiences makes it a go-to destination for the world’s top storytellers.
