New Jersey’s film and TV buildout will take center stage next week as the second annual NJ Film Expo convenes industry executives, labor leaders, educators and state officials at Meadowlands Arena, with Gov. Mikie Sherrill set to deliver a keynote focused on the state’s accelerating production economy.
The one-day event, organized by the Screen Alliance of New Jersey and sponsored by the New Jersey Motion Picture & Television Commission and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, is scheduled for Thursday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in East Rutherford.
The gathering arrives as New Jersey continues to pitch itself as one of the country’s fastest-growing production centers, buoyed by expanding studio infrastructure, a widening vendor ecosystem and a steady drumbeat of film and television activity across the state. According to organizers, the Expo will examine both the immediate needs of productions already landing in New Jersey and the longer-term strategies required to sustain that momentum.
Sherrill is slated to speak at 3 p.m., with her remarks expected to focus on job creation, workforce development and the broader economic impact of production growth on local communities and businesses. Lt. Gov. Dr. Dale G. Caldwell, serving in his role as secretary of state and as an ex officio member of the New Jersey Motion Picture & Television Commission, will also participate in the opening panel on the current state and future trajectory of the industry in New Jersey.
Panel programming will cover a range of topics, including the current state of the industry in New Jersey, workforce development, the future of film and television, independent filmmaking and studio network partnerships.
