The Royal Film Commission of Jordan has unveiled a revamped and competitive cash rebate program, positioning the Kingdom as one of the most attractive filming destinations in the Middle East—and perhaps the world. With rebates starting at 25% and climbing as high as 45%, Jordan is now actively courting international productions with both financial incentives and a rapidly growing production infrastructure.
The program’s tiered structure means productions spending over $10 million in Jordan are eligible for a 35% cash rebate, with the possibility of an additional 10% bump based on a cultural test that measures everything from employment of local crew to environmental impact and regional representation. This cultural scorecard rewards productions that not only spend big but also engage deeply with the local community and landscape. For projects in the $1 million to $10 million range, a 30% rebate applies, while smaller productions spending at least $250,000 can access a 25% rebate.
Post-production isn’t left out either: productions can claim up to 15% of post-production costs for services performed in Jordan. Additional perks include an advanced 10% rebate payment (capped at $100,000) against a standby bank guarantee—making it one of the more cash-flow friendly programs in the region.
The program applies to a wide array of content: feature films, series, documentaries, commercials, music videos, and even reality TV. Eligible expenses cover everything from Jordanian crew wages and airline tickets (on national carriers) to hotel accommodations, equipment rentals, and soundstage fees. And unlike many regional programs, Jordan’s application process is relatively streamlined, with rebate payments promised within 150 days of submitting audited reports.
The real twist? Productions that score between 100 and 120 points on the cultural test can earn a full 45% rebate, vaulting Jordan into elite territory among global incentive programs. In an age where producers are increasingly chasing both cost efficiency and authenticity, Jordan’s new framework seems custom-built to deliver.
