Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day is swinging into Scotland in a big way — and staying longer than planned. Production, which began in late July on location in Glasgow, has extended filming in the city’s streets until August 26, nearly two weeks past its original wrap date. Glasgow is once again doubling for New York, complete with American flags, stunt rigs, explosions, and a tank rumbling through George Square, as hundreds of fans crowd barricades for a glimpse of Tom Holland back in the Spidey suit.

The fourth solo outing for Holland’s Peter Parker — and his seventh appearance as the web-slinger — is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and produced by Amy Pascal alongside Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon return, joined by Stranger Things star Sadie Sink in a new role, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, and Michael Mando reprising his Homecoming turn as Scorpion. In a surprise crossover, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk will also appear, with the story promising a more grounded, street-level tone after the multiversal chaos of No Way Home.

One striking behind-the-scenes photo — showing Spider-Man, head bowed atop a vehicle as blurred crowds frame the scene — has already gone viral, evoking a post-battle exhaustion that has fans speculating on the film’s emotional stakes.
