Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions have solidified their partnership with Disney by signing a first-look television deal with 20th Television, a division of Disney TV Studios. This agreement, reported by Deadline, enables Seven Bucks Productions to develop and executive produce a diverse range of content—including comedy, drama, adult animation, limited series, and unscripted programming—for both linear networks and streaming platforms within the Disney Entertainment Television portfolio.
This new television pact complements Seven Bucks’ existing first-look film deal with Disney, under which they are producing a live-action adaptation of “Moana,” with Johnson reprising his role as Maui. Additionally, they are developing a live-action feature set in the Monster Jam universe, as announced at Disney’s D23 event.
Karey Burke, president of 20th Television, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting Johnson and Garcia’s reputation for franchise-building and their successful track record with Disney. Johnson and Garcia also conveyed their excitement, noting that the partnership offers “unlimited opportunity for creative storytelling” and a shared commitment to delivering authentic, innovative content to audiences worldwide.
Prior to this deal, Seven Bucks Productions had a television partnership with Universal TV, where they produced the semi-autobiographical comedy series “Young Rock,” featuring Johnson. This new alliance with 20th Television marks a significant expansion of Seven Bucks’ role within the Disney ecosystem, promising a slate of compelling content across multiple genres for a global audience.
