Greenfields Development Company, led by Australian billionaires Tony and Ron Perich, has unveiled plans for a state-of-the-art film and television production studio in Oran Park, a suburb approximately 35 miles southwest of Sydney’s central business district. This ambitious project aims to bolster Sydney’s capacity to host large-scale film and television productions, addressing a pressing shortage of studio space in New South Wales.
The proposed development, estimated at around $127 million, will transform a 7.4-acre vacant site into a comprehensive production facility. The project is set to be executed in five stages, with the initial phase focusing on constructing the first soundstage and essential infrastructure at a cost exceeding $32 million. Subsequent stages will add additional studios, office spaces, workshops, a helipad, and a multistory parking facility.
The establishment of Oran Park Studios is poised to significantly enhance Sydney’s screen production capabilities, attracting both domestic and international projects. By creating hundreds of jobs during both construction and operational phases, the studio is expected to stimulate the local economy. Moreover, the facility will serve as a vital cultural infrastructure piece, contributing to the state’s competitiveness as a premier destination for film and television production.
Oran Park’s strategic location offers several advantages for the proposed studio complex. The suburb is well-connected via The Northern Road and is a 15-minute drive from the upcoming Western Sydney International Airport, enhancing accessibility for production crews and equipment. Additionally, the site’s proximity to the Oran Park Town development, which has already delivered over 4,000 homes, ensures a supportive community infrastructure for the workforce.
The Oran Park Studios project represents a significant investment in the future of Sydney’s entertainment industry, promising to position the region as a competitive hub for major film and television productions.
