The iconic Production Park Studio Campus in Wakefield, Yorkshire, is poised for a transformative expansion starting early next year, adding 145,000 square feet of state-of-the-art studio space. This development cements the campus’s position as a premier destination for TV, film, commercial production, and live music rehearsals in the UK.
The phased expansion will see the addition of four new soundstages, catering to both film and live music, alongside enhanced facilities for education and collaborative partnerships. Construction is set to begin in early 2025, with the first studios scheduled to open by Q2.
Driving Creative Growth in West Yorkshire
Tracy Brabin, the Mayor of West Yorkshire, celebrated the announcement, saying, “As a major player in driving the success of our creative industries, this game-changing investment will pave the way for even greater innovation and collaboration. It will attract world-class TV, film, and live productions to our great region, creating jobs and growing the economy.”
This expansion is not only a boost for the region’s creative talent but also a strategic move to position Wakefield and West Yorkshire as leaders in the global entertainment landscape.
Investing in Local Success
Councillor Michael Graham, Wakefield Council’s cabinet member for regeneration and economic growth, echoed Brabin’s sentiments:
“Production Park’s reputation in the industry is second to none in Europe. It’s fantastic to have a locally based business at the very top of its game. Expanding its facilities will bring even more business into our district, which means more jobs and investment locally.”
The council has committed £3.2 million ($4.1 million) to support this ambitious project, further underscoring the region’s dedication to fostering its creative industries. Graham added, “This expansion strengthens Wakefield and West Yorkshire’s reputation as the home of world-class creative industries.”
Shaping the Future of Entertainment
Production Park’s expansion is a testament to the growing demand for versatile and cutting-edge production spaces in Europe. By doubling down on its commitment to education, innovation, and industry partnerships, the campus is set to remain a powerhouse for creativity and a driving force for economic growth in Yorkshire.
