Ringside Studios, in collaboration with Tokyo Vice producer Alex Boden, is making waves in the global production scene with the launch of Tetra, a cutting-edge production services business. Designed to support high-end TV (HETV) and film productions, Tetra aims to redefine international collaboration by offering comprehensive services, from co-production and physical production to creative management and executive producer oversight.
Tetra, jointly managed by Ringside’s Gub Neal and Alex Boden, brings together a wealth of expertise to meet the growing demand for streamlined, high-quality international productions. With a sharp focus on accessing UK and European incentives through Ringside’s parent company, Newen Studios, Tetra offers productions a competitive edge in the increasingly globalized entertainment landscape.
As part of its debut ventures, Ringside Studios has boarded Netflix Japan’s upcoming feature 10Dance. Directed by Keishi Otomo and adapted from the popular manga of the same name, the film delves into the intricate world of ballroom dancing. Principal photography begins in Japan this month and is set to continue in the UK in early 2025, where Ringside will oversee production and casting services.
“With production costs staying high in the U.S. and UK and European incentives becoming more attractive, there’s a real opportunity to capitalize on the immense talent we have in the UK,” said Gub Neal, Ringside’s founder and Creative Director. “We’re eager to make these incredible projects come to life at a cost that satisfies all parties involved.”
Tetra’s vision goes beyond production services, incorporating financing solutions through partnerships with established financiers. This added layer of financial support ensures productions can secure cash flow and reach completion seamlessly—a critical advantage in today’s industry climate.
Alex Boden, whose credits include global hits like Sense8 and Tokyo Vice, emphasized the importance of a well-rounded approach: “With productions increasingly looking to film internationally and chase financing to hit green light, now is the perfect time to provide tailored financial solutions backed by top-tier producing expertise.”
Joining the team is an impressive roster of industry heavyweights. Jeremy Gawade, an experienced dealmaker, will spearhead sourcing and structuring production agreements, while U.S.-based media executive Gina Marcheschi will lend consultancy support to bridge transatlantic collaborations.
Tetra’s unique approach is further bolstered by Ringside’s Lee Thomas (Industry, No Escape), who underscored the company’s mission to support productions at all budget levels: “Our highly experienced producing and executive team is here to help amplify creative visions, offering personalized support for productions eager to take advantage of filming in the UK and Europe.”
As Tetra sets out to redefine the international production landscape, its promise of expertise, incentives, and financing is poised to make it a go-to partner for filmmakers worldwide. From accessing the best talent to navigating financial complexities, Tetra delivers a one-stop solution for productions ready to harness the many benefits of filming globally.
